Pair Faces Trial For Cable Car Deaths
Two Marines face a military court Monday for their part in the February cable car accident that killed 20 people in Italy.
The hearing in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, is for the pilot and navigator of the jet that sliced through the cable supporting a ski gondola, sending everyone on board to their deaths.
The hearing's first session last month targeted two other Marines who were in the back of the jet. The hearings are to determine whether the Marines will be court-martialed.
A preliminary Marine Corps investigation blames all four crew members for the accident. It concludes that the jet flew lower and faster whenever conditions allowed.
