• Democratic challenger William Lloyd is a nine-term State Representative from southwestern Pennsylvania.
• In 1996, Lloyd ran for State Auditor. He was defeated in the Democratic Primary by Robert Casey, Jr.
• Lloyd's anti-abortion stance is viewed as an asset - even for a Democrat - in conservative Pennsylvania.
• In his primary bid for the Democratic Senate nomination, Lloyd emerged from a field of three (3) candidates winning 49% of the vote.
• Lloyd is having a difficult time raising campaign funds. Without on-hand cash, the candidate cannot convince voters to contribute to the race.
