Pa. man jailed for unpaid school truancy fine...7 years later!
(CBS/AP) READING, Pa. - Think you're too cool for school?
A Pennsylvania man who owed a truancy fine for skipping school more than seven years ago recently spent several hours in jail because he didn't pay up.
The Reading Eagle reports that 21-year-old Luis Salamo was arrested early Tuesday on a scofflaw warrant after an officer saw him littering.
Investigators say when police ran Salamo's name they found he owed $283.50 in fines for skipping school on May 19, 2004.
Authorities say Salamo had frequently skipped school before he dropped out, but that many of the fines were forgiven when he earned a graduate equivalency diploma in 2008.
But not all.
The newspaper reports Salamo's brother paid the outstanding fine, and Luis Salamo was released from jail a few hours later.
Let that be some sort of lesson to you.
