Oscars 2013: Ranking Best Picture noms at the box office

As we've seen in years past, winning a best picture Oscar can lead to added fame and prestige and in some cases, increased ticket sales at the box office.

As much of Hollywood prepares for the Academy Awards on Sunday, viewers have been at the theaters trying to predict which film will take home the coveted best picture prize.

According to Box Office Mojo, the nine films currently up for the prestigious award have collectively taken in almost a billion dollars in U.S. theaters alone. "Lincoln" is at the top of the list with over $177 million in ticket sales. Michael Haneke's French-language drama "Amour" is at the bottom of the list with just $4.4 million, but money doesn't always equate with wins when it comes to the Academy Awards.

Last year's best picture winner, "The Artist," took in just $44 million in ticket sales.

Here's the complete list of this year's best picture nominees and what they've each have pulled in so far at the box office:

1. "Lincoln," $177,122,490
