One killed in shooting incident at Fort Bragg, N.C.

(CBS/AP) A soldier at Fort Bragg in North Carolina killed another soldier and wounded another before turning the weapon on himself, a military spokesman said.

The soldiers from the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade had been assembled for a unit safety brief. The shooter is currently in custody, the Army said.

"This is a tragedy for our community. We don't yet know the reasons for the shooting, but are working with the unit and the affected Families to help them through this difficult period," said Col. Kevin Arata, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg Public Affairs Officer. "Our prayers are with those who have been affected by this terrible incident."

There is no motive yet available for the shooting, which occurred at about 3:30 p.m. ET. Fort Bragg is home to the 82nd Airborne Division, the 18th Airborne Corps and Special Operations Forces.

The Army said Special Agents from the Army Criminal Investigation Command are on the scene and have begun an investigation.
