Oklahoma man arrested for murder of girlfriend, a mother of 4

OKLAHOMA CITY --An Oklahoma man accused of beating to death a mother of four has been arrested, reports CBS affiliate KWTV.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Devin Alan Timmons, 22, on July 10, after 26-year-old Laura Brooks was found dead in the couple's apartment in Oklahoma City.

Timmons was last seen dropping off Brooks' children at daycare around 7:30 a.m. that day, and hadn't been seen since. Ben Brooks, the victim's brother, told KWTV that he received calls on July 10 when Laura Brooks didn't arrive for work, and later when no one picked up her children from daycare.

Ben Brooks said he knew something had gone terrible wrong.

"Laura never leaves her kids at daycare, especially two hours late without calling somebody," said Ben Brooks.

He added that he previously worried about the victim, because the couple had a rocky relationship.

"He's thrown lamps at her. He's choked her. He's held a knife to her throat," Ben Brooks said. "He's threatened to kill himself. He's busted her van side windows."

Court records show Timmons has a history of domestic violence that predates his relationship with Laura Brooks.

On July 10, as police searched for Timmons, one of Laura Brooks' children, a 5-year-old, allegedly told officers that Timmons had hurt Laura and that Laura was "in heaven now."

Timmons was tracked down by the U.S. Marshal Metro Fugitive Task Force and the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Police in Norman, Okla., early Sunday evening. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
