(CBS/AP) AKRON, Ohio - An official in northeast Ohio says four adults have been found fatally shot in the basement of a townhome.

The head of the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority says the four bodies were discovered Thursday on Akron's northeast side.

Police are telling media outlets that two men and two women had been shot in the head.

The names of the victims have not been released, but CBS affiliate WOIO reports all of the victims were in their early twenties.

Housing Authority executive director Tony O'Leary says police told his office that no weapons were found in the townhome.

He says the units are normally quiet and don't have a history of crime.

According to WOIO, police say the door of the townhome was locked and there was no sign of forced entry.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood and surrounding area for clues.
