Ohio casino building site collapse injures 13

Last Updated 10:10 a.m. ET

CINCINNATI - At least 13 people have been taken to hospitals with minor injuries from a partial collapse at a casino under construction, fire department officials said.

The accident happened shortly before 8:00 a.m. Friday morning when, CBS Affiliate WKRC reports, the third floor of the construction site collapsed.

Police spokesman Lt. Maurice Robinson said a 30 foot-by-50 foot section of floor went down. Rock Gaming, one of the developers, said in a statement that the floor collapsed as concrete was being poured. WKRC reports there was no one underneath the floor which collapsed.

All of the injured have been transferred to local hospitals.

The Cincinnati Casino is being developed by Rock Gaming in partnership with Caesar's Entertainment. A project spokeswoman said officials are assessing the situation.

Roads around the casino have been closed by police.

A partial collapse of a garage at another Ohio casino under construction occurred last month. That casino in Cleveland also is being developed by the Rock Gaming-Caesar's partnership. No one was injured in that collapse.
