Official: 5 killed, including shooter, at Georgia home

SUWANEE, Ga. -Four people, including the gunman and two children under the age of 10, were killed in a domestic-related shooting Wednesday inside a home in suburban Atlanta, officials said.

The shooter was known to officers from previous arrests and time in custody for minor crimes, but a motive wasn't known, officials with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said.

CBS affiliate WGCL reports that the incident appears to be domestic.

An uninvolved family member called 911 about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sheriff Duane Piper said. Deputies found one man and two children under the age of 10 dead from gunshot wounds. Another man and woman were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds. The woman later died and the man was in critical condition, Piper said.

Piper didn't release names but said it appeared all the victims lived at the home - a white, single-story, ranch-style house that contrasts with the expansive residences surrounding it.

"There's not a threat to the public," Maj. Rick Doyle said. "The scene is contained."

The area of the shooting, on Old Atlanta Road about 30 miles northeast of the city, includes some of metro Atlanta's most exclusive neighborhoods.

The road winds past golf course communities and expansive homes in a heavily wooded area. But the home where the five people were shot is modest.

The white, single-story, ranch-style house is a few yards from the entrance to the Olde Atlanta Club, a golf course community along the Chattahoochee River, and just north of the St. Marlo Country Club, where homes surround another golf course.
