(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - An off-duty NYPD cop shot her boyfriend, her 1-year-old son and then herself on Monday morning in Brooklyn, police said.

The apparent double murder-suicide happened in the basement apartment of a building in East Flatbush.

The bodies were discovered after the woman's 19-year-old son heard an argument between the two adults, escaped out a window and called 911. When police arrived moments later, the three were dead.

Police said the boyfriend was found in the doorway of the apartment. The bodies of the officer and her son were found on the bed, police said.

The adult male victim is believed to be in his 30s and the father of the infant, 1010 WINS reports. The 43-year-old off-duty cop was reportedly a member of the 108th precinct in Queens.

The officer and child were reportedly shot in the chest. It is not clear where the man was struck or how many rounds were fired. The teenager, who is the officer's son from a previous relationship, was uninjured.

It's not clear what prompted the dispute. The incident is still under investigation.
