Obamas wish Usher a "Happy Birthday" at the White House

What better way for a chart-topping R&B artist to spend his 37th birthday than to be serenaded by the United States' first family at the White House?

Usher Raymond IV, R&B legend and former "The Voice" coach, posted a video to Facebook on Saturday that captured the private birthday fete.

Prominently featured in the video: President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, singing "Happy Birthday" and presenting the award-winning vocalist with a cupcake bearing a single candle.

So this really happened the other night...... The President and First Lady sang me Happy Birthday at The White House & I...

At one point, Usher, who turned 37 on Wednesday, turns to the camera and questions, disbelievingly, "Are you getting this?"

While the president's rendition of "Happy Birthday" didn't quite measure up to Usher's own crooning vocals, the musician still said he was "#blessed" to be there.

After the R&B star blew out the candle, Mr. Obama shook his hand.

"That's a good cupcake too," the president said, gesturing to the sweet treat.

Usher, along with musicians like Queen Latifah, Smokey Robinson, and jazz cellist Esperanza Spalding, visited Washington, D.C. this week for a taping of PBS' "In Performance at the White House," a concert series that filmed in the White House's East Room the night of his birthday.
