Obama's call for Israel to return to 1967 borders draws mixed reaction
(CBS/What's Trending) - A day after President Barack Obama stated that Israel should return to its 1967 borders, the U.S. president and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Washington D.C.
Netanyahu came out quickly and rejected Obama's idea, saying that it was "indefensible." Israeli Opposition leader Tzipi Livni slammed Netanyahu saying he was hurting U.S.-Israeli relations, and Obama's speech was pro-Israel.
Stateside, a couple of Republican Presidential hopefuls saw this as an opportunity to criticize Obama's Israeli foreign policy.
Mitt Romney said in a statement that Obama was "throwing Israel under a bus," while Tim Pawlenty called the plan a "disaster."However, The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg was quick to say the partisan bickering is misguided since the statements by President Obama are similar to the positions President Bush took.
