Obama Won't Speculate on How February Will Turn Out

OMAHA, NEB. -- Barack Obama told reporters on a flight to Omaha that the race between himself and Hillary Clinton is going to be close, but he did not want to speculate how long the race will go on.
"A month ago I don't think anybody anticipated all the twists and turns that have taken place and so I don't think that we should be speculating now at what this race is going to look like a month from now," Obama said.
He raised questions about Clinton's $5 million self-loan because she has not released her income tax returns. Obama, who has released his returns, said his campaign has been more transparent.
"I'll just say that I've released my tax returns. That's been a policy I've maintained consistently," Obama said, "I think the American people deserve to know where you get your income from."
Obama also said that, under law, Hillary Clinton can only draw half from a joint account with Bill Clinton. He attributes his fund-raising success to the many small donations he's received online.
"I think there's no doubt that she has not generated the kind of grassroots enthusiasm that we have," Obama said before the Clinton campaign released new fund-raising numbers today.
"It's not for lack of trying and she's got a former president actively fund-raising for her as well."
Regarding Clinton's call for more debates, Obama said voter contact is more important to his campaign.
"Senator Clinton's better known in a lot of these states. I've got to do more work on the ground. But we'll have more debates."
Obama also confirmed that he spoke to John Edwards yesterday but he did elaborate on their conversation.
