Obama To Celebrate 100th Day In St. Louis
"The president will hold a town hall meeting in suburban St. Louis, Missouri on April 29, where he will give a progress report on the administration and take questions from Missourians about the administration's agenda, looking forward," Gibbs said.
He also announced that following his "successful" meeting with King Abdullah this morning, President Obama has invited "other key partners" in the Middle East peace effort to the White House for meetings over the "coming weeks."
Gibbs said dates are now being finalized for visits from President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority.
"With each of them, the president will discuss ways the United States can strengthen and deepen our partnerships with them, as well as the steps all parties must take to help achieve peace between Israelis and Palestinians and between Israel and the Arab states," he said.
These announcements were made within the briefing's opening minutes. The majority of subsequent questioning centered around President Obama's comments this morning that he is open to the prosecution of those "who formulated those legal decisions" in the torture memos released last week.
