President Obama today had the 12 stitches in his upper lip removed with no noticeable damage.

He received the stitches last Friday after getting elbowed in the face during a basketball game.

CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller and other reporters noticed the development today in a chance encounter with the president outside of the Oval Office. (The president told the reporters that FIFA made the "wrong decision" in picking Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup over the United States.)

Now that the president's stitches are removed, he should be back on his game -- Mr. Obama said he played basketball on Sunday with his daughters, but they "took it easy" on him.
