Oakland Signs QB Heath Shuler
The Oakland Raiders added to their revolving quarterbacks corps Friday by signing free agent Heath Shuler.
Terms of the deal were not announced.
Shuler was added to a roster that already includes Rich Gannon, who left the Kansas City Chiefs to replace Jeff George. Wade Wilson, 40, is listed as Gannon's backup.
Shuler, Washington's No. 3 pick in the 1994 draft, spent the past two seasons with New Orleans but did not play last year because of a torn toe ligament. In 1997, he started nine games and passed for 1,288 yards and two touchdowns with 14 interceptions.
The former Tennessee star finished second in the Heisman Trophy balloting in 1993. In two seasons with the Volunteers, Shuler ranks third on the school's all-time passing list with 4,088 yards.
