NYC streets come alive for annual Greenwich Village Halloween parade

NEW YORK — The ghouls and goblins were coming alive in Greenwich Village Monday night for the 43rd annual Halloween parade,CBS New York reported

“Oh my god, just all these free spirits coming together in the best neighborhood in the world, the West Village,” one man told 1010 WINS. 

There were fairies in white gowns and Batman driving a replica of the Bat Mobile from the TV show of the 60s, along with lots of everyday folks dressed up and expressing themselves.

“I’m John from Staten Island, New York and I’m Ace Frehley tonight,” one man announced.

Organizers of the 43rd annual Village Halloween Parade expected to see up to 60,000 people marching through the neighborhood.

Revelers — including more than 50 bands — hit the streets around 7 p.m.

Police were expecting more than a million people, and a heavy security presence was on hand, including dogs and plain clothes officers.
