(CBS/AP) PARAMUS, N.J. - The badly charred remains of aspiring New York City rapper Kampane were found Tuesday morning in a sport utility vehicle parked on a New Jersey street, authorities say.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says the death of the 33-year-old Rhian H. Stoute, aka Kampane, will be investigated as a homicide. Molinelli says the body was burned in several areas and that a cause of death had yet to be determined.

Law enforcement officials told the Cliffview Pilot that the little known rapper had been shot at least once.

Investigators say they don't believe Stoute was killed where his body was found early Tuesday in Paramus.

Police found the body in the SUV's rear cargo area. Molinelli won't say what led authorities to the vehicle.

Stoute, who was born in Flatbush in Brooklyn, toured with the rap group "Roc-a-Fella" 11 years ago. Stoute was related to the producer J Runnah who has worked with artists including Jay Z.  According to his website, he was currently promoting his new single "What You Drinking on."
