NYC man runs over girlfriend with wife's car, say cops

(CBS/WCBS) NEW YORK - An apparent domestic dispute inside a New York City bar early Saturday morning ended with both a 23-year-old woman and her 28-year-old boyfriend hospitalized.

Police believe 28-year-old Ricaury Pena struck his girlfriend with his estranged wife's SUV before fleeing the scene, only to crash hours later.

The apparent hit-and-run happened just before 4 a.m. According to CBS station WCBS, witnesses said the woman was coming out of the El Tequilazo bar when she was hit by the speeding SUV apparently being driven by Pena.

The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Hours later, at around 8 a.m., police say Pena crashed the SUV near the George Washington Bridge. He was taken to Harlem Hospital and was also listed in critical condition.

Pena's estranged wife Rosa Estevez told the New York Daily News that the man has a history of mental problems.

"He has kind of issues in his head," Estevez told the paper.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
