N.Y. Rangers Re-Sign Vorobiev


Forward Vladimir Vorobiev, who spent most of last season in the minor leagues, agreed to terms Thursday with the New York Rangers.

Terms were not disclosed. The 25-year-old Vorobiev was a Group II free agent who played just 15 games with the Rangers last season, totaling two goals and two assists.

A native of Russia, Vorobiev collected 20 goals and 28 assists in 56 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' affiliate in the American Hockey League.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Vorobiev played 168 games with a pair of Russian teams and also represented Russia at the 1995 and 1996 World Ice Hockey Championships.
