"Nurse Jackie" returns for fourth season

Eve Best as Dr. O'Hara and Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton in "Nurse Jackie." Showtime

(CBS News) The fourth season of "Nurse Jackie" debuted on Showtime Sunday night, opening with a major twist for Edie Falco's titular character (SPOILERS).

Pictures: Edie Falco

At the beginning of "Kettle-Kettle-Black-Black," the pill-popping nurse is shown checking into rehab. The episode then flashes back 24 hours, to show how she got there.

In the flashback, Jackie meets a fellow addict (Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong) at church, and brings him home to fool around and get high - but he ends up overdosing under her roof. His death proves to be rock bottom for Jackie, who asks O'Hara to get her a bed at a rehab clinic.

Now, the question remains - will Jackie's 28-day stint help her stay sober? Or will she fall off back into her old ways?

New episodes of "Nurse Jackie" air Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT.
