Nudity, gambling banned in risque So. Calif. coffeehouses

(CBS/AP) GARDEN GROVE, California - Who knew there was nudity...and gambling...and smoking - oh my! - in the so-called lingerie cafes of Garden Grove, California?

The Orange County Register reports Wednesday that the City Council has voted 4-0 to ban all of the above in said establishments, after the Police Chief delivered his revealing report.

Chief Kevin Raney told officials his officers raided 20 coffeehouses and confiscated 200 gambling machines. The chief also said nude waitresses were encountered in the raids, and the lingerie cafes have attracted gangs.

More than three dozen of the adult coffeehouses operate in Garden Grove, and some waitresses have reportedly been slipping out of their teddies to serve customers in the altogether. Additionally, arcade machines have been rigged to be gambling machines.
