NRCC To DCCC: Get Rid Of The Money
Taking a page from the Democratic playbook, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is calling on its Democratic counterpart, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), to return $134,000 it received from indicted Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) since 1997.
The tactic mimics the 2006 election cycle when Democrats called on Republicans to return funds contributed by now-convicted ex-Reps. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) and Duke Cunningham (R-Calif.) and the indicted former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas).
“It is shameful that after pledging to run the ‘most ethical congress in history’ Democrats are trying to defend their majority with dirty money. It’s time for Nancy Pelosi, the DCCC and rank-and-file Democrats to stop the hypocrisy and live up to the standards they set for themselves,” said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain.
