NRCC Chair Tom Cole Previews Campaign Strategy With Bloggers
NRCC Chairman Tom Cole held an on-record briefing with conservative bloggers this afternoon to talk about the committee’s strategy heading into 2008. The meeting coincided with the committee’s launch of its new website. Among some of his more noteworthy observations:
-- Utilizing the Internet effectively is a priority for the committee this cycle. “It’s an area where we’ve been slower as a party than retrospectively we should have been,” he said. “You ignore the medium at your peril and at your great disadvantage.”
The new website will introduce GOP candidates to a larger audience and keep readers posted of the party’s recruiting efforts. Cole himself will be occasionally interacting with bloggers on the committee’s homepage.
-- Cole touted the committee’s recruiting efforts in the Northeast but acknowledged having troubles recruiting candidates in Indiana and against Reps. Zack Space (D-Ohio) and Nick Lampson (D-Texas).
