Nov. 7: Dole's Day To Run

Republican Presidential candidate Elizabeth Dole says she'll formally kick off her campaign on November 7, hoping that date will turn into the anniversary of her election to the White House.

Â"It's exactly one year before the first presidential election of the new millennium and our selection of that date reflects my sense that we will make history,Â" Dole said in a press release.

The Dole campaign also confirmed on that she will join other Republican presidential candidates in New Hampshire's nationally televised debate on October 28 at Dartmouth College.

Campaigning since early this year, Dole will launch her official kickoff swing in Des Moines, Iowa. From there, the tour traces her strategy for next year's early nominating contests. She will appear in Manchester, New Hampshire and Columbia, South Carolina on November 8. SheÂ'll wrap up her announcement tour in her hometown of Salisbury, North Carolina.

Dole and Arizona Senator John McCain are both far behind the Republican frontrunner, Texas Governor George W. Bush. Despite a recent increase in media attention for McCain, an October poll shows 11 percent of Republicans support Elizabeth Dole, with McCain close behind at 8 percent and George W. Bush light years ahead at 60 percent.
