No porn policy unconstitutional, says Mich. inmate
(CBS/WJZ) LANSING, Mich. - Kyle Richards, 21, an inmate at Macomb County Jail, may feel Newsweek, National Geographic and Time are fine publications, but he's looking for something a bit more satisfying on his entertainment menu.
Porn. Adult Publications. Smut. Whatever it's called, Richards wants it.
Richards has filed a five-page lawsuit against Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and the state of Michigan claiming his civil rights are being violated since he is being denied those prurient pleasures, reports CBS station WJZ.
In his lawsuit Richards said the absence of pornography has forced him to compromise his standards of living and subjects him to "sexual and sensory deprivation."
The Michigan Department of Corrections does allow pornographic material, within certain guidelines, but the material is banned from the county jail where Richards is currently housed.
Richards was charged with bank robbery in January after police followed a set of footprints in the snow and a trail of money to his apartment.
