N.J. Jury Weighs Fate of Man Who Killed British Reality Hunk Lavern Paul Ritch
(CBS/AP) A New Jersey jury is weighing the fate of a man who admits killing one of Britain's most eligible bachelors, Lavern Paul Ritch.
The jury in the murder trial of Robert Davies began deliberating the case Tuesday afternoon. It adjourned for the day without reaching a verdict.
Davies, of North Wildwood, N.J., told the jury he acted in self-defense when he fatally stabbed Ritch in August 2007, in Margate, a beach town just south of Atlantic City.
Davies says he thought Ritch was part of a group that intended to attack him. He says he learned later that Ritch wanted to help him.
Ritch was once a contestant on the British version of the "American Gladiators" TV show. He was from Wales.
