NIU Shooting: One Injured on Northern Illinois University Campus

(Northern Illinois University)
DEKALB, Ill. (CBS/AP) Two years after a shooting rampage at Northern Illinois University (NIU) left five students dead, including the shooter, and 12 injured, someone opened fire on another student this morning.

Police have a suspect in custody and one person is injured.

The victim was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment, according to police. The person's condition is not known.

The shooting happened near Stevenson Hall, one of the residence halls on campus. And police believe it was an isolated incident between two individuals.

NIU issued a campus-wide alert shortly after the shooting, but officials say the campus will remain open and classes will be held as scheduled Friday.
