Nick Jonas draws fans to Broadway in "How to Succeed"
Nick Jonas, the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers, has grown up before our eyes, fending off hordes of love-struck tweens.
Now, he's sporting a green bow tie and lighting up the Great White Way in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" - and his fans continue to follow in droves.
"My fans are amazing. They have been so supportive," Jonas told CBSNews.com. "I think when they know there is something that I am really passionate about, they get behind it in a major way...They are truly the best fans in the world."
The 19-year-old heartthrob is returning to his roots, where he began performing on stage at age 7. He has performed in "Annie Get Your Gun," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Sound of Music" and "Les Miserables," among others.
"It has been an amazing transition back to Broadway. Before I started (with The Jonas Bothers), I performed at a very young age. I did four Broadway shows here in New York by the time I was 11 years old. It's been a fun process to be able to come back and be a leading man on Broadway. It's a dream come true," he said.
Jonas succeeds "Harry Potter's" Daniel Radcliffe and "Glee" star Darren Criss in the lead role of J. Pierrepont Finch, a young, earnest worker who tries to climb the corporate ladder. Radcliffe, who currently stars in the film "Woman in Black," showed his support by attending the show last Sunday.
"He's such an amazing guy and he's done so much for the Broadway community," Jonas said of the young British actor.
Besides landing a great gig on Broadway, Jonas is relishing his taste of freedom from the paparazzi - at least for now.
"It's been great. New York is an amazing city where you can sort of have the peace and the quiet along with the greatness of the city," he explained. "I think people really respect the fact that I am living here now and that this is my home. I've got my dog here with me, which is really nice. I am living in an area where I feel that I can have peace and that's a beautiful thing."
So what does this mean for future of The Jonas Brothers?
Don't fret, the JBros will be back.
"After this, I think my brothers and I will record another record and hopefully get more music out there for our fans," he said. "We've been in an off-cycle for the past year and a half and it will be great to get back with them and make another record."
