• George Condodemetraky is the son of Greek immigrants who fled to the U.S. by way of Turkey. His father was just 14 years old when he arrived at Ellis Island in 1906. John Condodemetraky worked for ten years, as an indentured servant, to pay off his passage.

• After serving in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Condodemetraky and his wife lived in Thailand, Laos, and Panama while working for the U.S. Agency for International Development.

• Condodemetraky's early career also included a stint working as an tunnel engineer in New York. In the late fifties, he helped build the 5-mile aqueduct between Brooklyn and Staten Island.

• The two-term Belmont, NH selectman is running a low-budget, grassroots campaign. His 24-year old son is his campaign manager and aside from an initial fundraising letter, he is not concentrating on personally soliciting campaign contributions. Instead, he is relying on help of Maryland Democratic Senator, Paul Sarbanes and the Greek-American community.
