Newhart: "I'd Like to See all the Reality Shows Go Away."

For years, the final scene of the final episode of the classic TV hit, "Newhart," starring comedy legend Bob Newhart, has been rated as one of TV's most memorable finales.

TV Guide even voted it "the" most memorable final scene of a series on television.

It was Newhart's wife, Ginnie, who gave birth to the idea of bringing back Bob's former TV series wife, Suzanne Pleshette, for the series finale. The idea was that Bob would wake up from his "dream" of being a Vermont innkeeper and, of course, his "reel" wife, Suzanne, aka "Emily Hartley," would be next to him in the bed. Alas, eight seasons of "Newhart" was only a dream.

On May 21, 1990, the final episode of "Newhart," one that would make history and stick in people's minds for decades, aired on CBS TV.

Twenty years later, Bob Newhart returns to the network Friday, to celebrate this landmark television event - only on the "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric."
