New York woman arrested for allegedly strangling her two-year-old son because he cried too much

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK- Afriyie Gaspard, 29, has been charged with murder and manslaughter for allegedly strangling her two-year-old son, according to CBS New York.

According to the Wall Street Journal, police responding to Gaspard's 911 call found an unresponsive baby at their Queens apartment. The paper reports that according to police, Gaspard initially told responding officers she had taken a nap and woke to find her son, Izayah Hall, unresponsive. He died at the hospital.

CBS New York reports that according to police, the medical examiner determined over the weekend that the boy's death was a homicide. Authorities said Gaspard strangled her son because he had been crying too much.

Gaspard has reportedly had troubled involving her children before. The Journal reports that in 2007 she was arrested for endangering the welfare of one of her children when her daughter was found wandering alone at a busy intersection, while two other children were left unattended in her apartment.
