New York podiatrist's girlfriend admits plotting to kill his estranged wife

RAMAPO, N.Y. – A woman accusing of plotting to have her podiatrist boyfriend’s wife killed pleaded guilty Wednesday, reports LoHud.com.

Kelly Gribeluk, 35, and Ira Bernstein, 45, are accused of agreeing to pay $100,000 to have someone run down Bernstein’s wife and make it look like an accident, the news website reports.

Gribeluk, who had reportedly been behind bars since her arrest while Bernstein was free on bail, pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy for allegedly making down payments to have Susan Bernstein killed, and to have two insurance investigators beaten up.

The alleged plot was uncovered through wiretaps and the wife was not harmed.

The judge ordered Gribeluk released on $50,000 bail – she had previously been held on $600,000 bail – and mandated that she wear a monitoring device and remain in her home 24-hours a day, except for a weekly check-in with her bail bondsman, reports LoHud.

According to the news website, the prosecutor in the case would not comment on whether Gribeluk’s plea involved her cooperating in the case against Bernstein.
