NEW YORK (CBS) New details have been released about the novel written by an anonymous author about the Obama administration.

The book, titled "O: A Presidential Novel," is set to hit stores on Jan. 25.

Simon & Schuster, the book's publisher, has kept tight-lipped about the plot and author. But it released the book's cover and a description to retail websites on Monday.

"This is a novel about aspiration and delusion, set during the presidential election of 2012 and written by an anonymous author who has spent years observing politics and the fraught relationship between public image and self-regard," the description reads. "The novel includes revealing and insightful portraits of many prominent figures in the political world - some invented and some real."

As for the author, the publishing company says he's "been in the room with Barack Obama and wishes to remain anonymous."

The book has prompted comparisons to "Primary Colors," the anonymously-penned novel published in 1996, which was inspired by former President Bill Clinton's first presidential campaign.

Simon & Schuster and CBS are owned by the same parent company.
