(CBS/AP) ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - It's not considered good form for the bad guy to leave fingerprints at the scene of the crime.

So what about his actual finger?

Albuquerque police say a robbery suspect may have left a piece of his finger at the scene of a smoke shop robbery.

CBS affiliate KRQE-TV reports that police arrived at the scene Saturday night after a report of shots fired during a robbery. According to authorities, the suspect fled but they believe he may have accidentally shot off his own finger.

Authorities say a fingerprint will be taken from the severed digit.

No arrests have been made.
