One woman worked for KBR in the Green Zone, while the other worked for a KBR subsidiary.
Nelson also raised the possibility that a number of other similar rapes may have occurred in Iraq that have gone unreported, and asked Mukasey to look into such allegations.
Responding, KBR spokeswoman Heather Jones said:
“KBR in no way condones or tolerates any form of sexual harassment. The safety and security of all employees remains KBR's top priority. That commitment is unwavering. Further, each employee is expected to adhere to KBR's Code of Business Conduct guidelines and when violations occur,
immediate and appropriate disciplinary action is taken. Any and all allegations related to inappropriate sexual behavior are taken seriously and investigated immediately.
“As this matter is the subject of ongoing litigation, it is inappropriate to provide further comment.”
