*Yahoo* Rejigs Mobile Offering With *Yahoo* Mobile: Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) has launched a new product Yahoo Mobile, which rolls its OneSearch, OneConnect, and OnePlace products as well as other features such as Yahoo Maps, into a more convenient package than its previous attempt with Yahoo Go. More importantly, the company says, the ad-supported service is an open environment and allows users to more easily add the content and applications they want on their phone. Marco Boerries, EVP of Yahoo Connected Life, says its mobile division has introduced it as "your starting point for the internet, not just the mobile internet." More on mocoNews.net...
Fox Mobile's iPhone Strategy "In Review"; Wants More Clarity From *Apple* On App Store Rules: Fox Mobile is reviewing its iPhone application strategy, Fox Mobile CEO and ex-Jamba CEO Mauro Montanaro told us at MWC. The company joins a growing number of publishers that are increasingly unsure that the cost of developing an iPhone application can always be recouped. He notes that the "discoverability" of iPhone apps is becoming a bigger problem, and that some of the marketing tactics that Fox Mobile has used successfully on other handsets just don't work on the iPhone. MySpace Details Aggressive Mobile App Approach For Social Networking On The Go: MySpace said today in Barcelona it has plans to develop new applications for Nokia's S60 phones and also the upcoming Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre, adding to a long list of platforms it already supports. Clearly, the company believes in standalone experiences made for each individual mobile phone. It already has applications for such smartphone as the iPhone, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Android, Sidekick and BlackBerry.
