Must watch video: Octopus ambushes crab on beach

When she started filming a bright yellow crab clamoring along the rocks on an Australian beach, Porsche Indrisie was not expecting what would come next.

"I didn't know why I chose to film this crab, but thought I would try and get closer to it but something else beat me to it," she wrote in the comment section of the page on YouTube where over 4 million people have watched her surprising discovery.

As she followed the creeping crustacean with her camera, Indrisie was suddenly shocked by the appearance from beneath the water of an octopus that launched itself onto the rock, capturing the unsuspecting crab. It pounced with remarkable speed, grabbing the crab with its powerful suckers and dragging it below the surface of the water.

It's not entirely uncommon for the boneless octopus to hurl itself onto land and lumber some distance for food, but for a person to witness it is a rare and special treat. Kind of like fresh crab.
