MTV "America's Best Dance Crew" judge Shane Sparks pleads no contest in sex case

(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - A judge on MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew," Shane Sparks, has pleaded not contest to having sex with an underage girl in the 1990s.

Sparks had been facing eight felony charges involving the alleged crime. The Lost Angeles hip-hop choreographer pleaded no contest Tuesday to a felony count of having unlawful sex with a minor under 16 after prosecutors dropped the original charges.

Sparks was sentenced to 270 days in jail and five years of probation. The judge also ordered him to complete 52 sessions of sexual offender counseling and to stay away from underage girls unless an adult is present.

The Cincinnati-born Sparks has worked with Brandy, Aaliyah, Monica and Lindsay Lohan and was nominated for an Emmy for his choreography on "So You Think You Can Dance," according to MTV.

Sparks was arrested in December 2009 at his North Hollywood home.
