MoveOn.org Goes After Democrats On Iraq
MoveOn.org is launching two radio ads against prominent Democrats in the House and Senate. The liberal organization has battled Republicans in swing districts for their position on the war; the targeted Democrats -- Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (Md.) and Sen. Carl Levin (Mich.) – are in relatively safe seats. The ad-buy, at $50,000, will run in Detroit and other parts of Michigan and in Washington, D.C. Hoyer’s Maryland district is about 45 minutes south of D.C.
Hoyer’s crime was to vote against a bill introduced by Rep. James McGovern (D-Mass.) last week that would have called for the start of the withdrawal of U.S. troops within 90 days. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) voted in favor of the bill, along with 168 other Democrats.
