Mortal Kombat: Legacy: A (web) star is born
On Tuesday, Machinima launched "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" on the Internet. By early afternoon on Wednesday, the 12.5 minute clip had logged nearly 1.6 million page views on YouTube.
The ten episode series - new installments debut at this address each Tuesday - stars Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan. Hard to say how fast it will catch on, but at this rate, the series has a good shot at becoming one of the most popular original series ever on YouTube. And that would fit in nicely with the ambitions of YouTube parent Google, which has made no secret of its plans to make turn the service into a broadcast platform featuring original content.
