Model brings healthy eating to fashion world

(CBS News) Fashion model Elettra Wiedemann is on a mission to bring healthy eating to the fashion world.

Wiedemann recently started a restaurant called Goodness that features various chefs and locally-sourced, seasonal food. But the restaurant doesn't have a particular location - it's a pop-up restaurant that is set up for four or five days at fashion events and then is taken apart.

Wiedemann says she created the restaurant to provide a healthful option for models that are often too busy at fashion events to eat well. "Fashion week is actually the busiest week of the year for us," she said. "It's the week you have to bring your 'A' game and feel and look your best and you're not being fed most of the time, which is hard after four or five days to live on such little food.

She continued, "I kind of created Goodness for me because I was always at these (events), I was always wanting to eat something healthy that I could get easily and be on the go and engage with local culinary scene. Because I would be in these amazing cities. And I'd want to go to this restaurant or that restaurant, but I wouldn't be allowed to or able to. And so, now, they all come to me. I created it for myself. I'm lucky other people think it's a good idea."

Wiedemann, the child of famed filmmaker and actress Isabella Rossellini, also has a master's degree in bio-medicine, is fluent in French, English and Spanish, and is now a chief executive officer, an activist, and a philanthropist.

Wiedemann will soon be a host the Metropolitan Museum of Art's renowned Costume Institute Benefit on May 7. The event will be streamed online Monday, May 7, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the Vogue, Amazon.com/Fashion, and Met websites.
