• Born Jim Janos, he is much more well-known by the name Jesse "the Body" Ventura, a name he coined when he became a professional wrestler. Ventura grew up in Minneapolis and joined the Navy after graduating from high school. He served in the elite Navy SEAL unit, which took him behind enemy lines in Vietnam.
• Ventura made a name for himself in professional wrestling. After retiring from the wrestling circuit in 1986, he parlayed his notoriety into a broadcasting and acting career. Ventura has appeared in commercials and movies, including "Batman & Robin" and "Predator."
• Ventura served as Mayor of Brooklyn Park from 1991 to 1995. He won the election with 65% of the vote.
• Currently, Ventura is on hiatus from hosting his talk radio show on KFAN-AM in the Twin Cities.
