"Alisa Maier has been recovered. She is doing well," Louisiana, Missouri police chief Rich Hughes said.

After being recovered by authorities, Alisa was taken to St. Clair Hospital in Fenton. She was then reunited with her parents and transported to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis. CBS affiliate KMOV reports that she has since been released to her parents.

Authorities have declined to disclose what the girl told officers about her ordeal.

Alisa was found late Tuesday in the St. Louis suburb of Fenton after police received a call about a child alone at the car wash, FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Wu said. She had been missing since 8 p.m. Monday.

According to police, it was the suspect's vehicle that first caught the attention of several witnesses. Witnesses say the car had a very loud muffler, which made it noticeable. The car was spotted at the car wash around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Several witnesses then spotted Alisa and called the authorities. When the calls first started coming in, witnesses said they saw a little boy wandering around the car wash alone. Alisa's grandfather Roy Harrison says that Alisa's hair has been cut and is much shorter than it was; police would not comment on whether or not Alisa's hair had been cut.

Police have released a description of the supsect accused in the kidnapping. He is described as a white man in his 30s with dark skin and dark hair. His car is described as a black or dark brown four-door mid-sized sedan (possibly a Ford Escort) with a loud muffler. The car is missing wheel covers on the drivers side.

Alisa and her 5-year-old brother were playing outside Monday while their mom was in the house making dinner. The boy told police a man he did not know, driving a four-door car, pulled up and ordered his sister to get in before driving away.

At least 60 police officers and more than 100 residents, some from as far away as St. Louis, joined in the frantic search for Alisa.

Anyone with information about the suspect or a car matching the above description, is asked to please contact police at 314-889-2341.
