Missing Boston College student found safe in NY

BROOKLINE, Mass. -- A 20-year-old Boston College student has been found safe after a search, reports CBS Boston.

Stephen Ziska, a junior from Brooklyn, New York, had been missing for nearly a week. He was reportedly last seen by his roommates at his suburban Boston apartment around 11:30 a.m. May 11. He was scheduled to take an exam at noon on the college's Chestnut Hill campus, but never showed up.

A Boston College spokesman told the station it was uncharacteristic for Ziska not to check in with friends or family, though police did not suspect foul play.

Brookline police said members of the NYPD found out about 11 p.m. Friday that Ziska had returned to his New York home in what they described as "good health," reports the station.

"Our prayers for his safe return have been answered," read a Boston College statement. "We extend our thanks to members of the BC community who posted signs throughout the area, to the media for helping to spread the word, and to Brookline Police for their assistance with the search."
