Minnesota man accused of killing wife captured in Illinois

MINNEAPOLIS -- A Minnesota man suspected of killing his wife in August has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, reports CBS Minnesota.

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office says Larry Todd Tennin was arrested in Waukegan, Illinois, about 370 miles from Maplewood, Minn., where his 41-year-old April Tennin was killed. He was tracked down by U.S. Marshalls and the Great Lakes Regional Task Force.

He is accused of murdering April Tennin in their home on the morning of Aug. 23. Her three children, ages 12, 15 and 16, were in the townhouse at the time. One of the children called police after the shooting, while another child ran into the street to yell for help.

Tennin was out on parole from Moose Lake Correctional Facility, where he had been held for weapons violations. He has a long criminal history, which includes convictions for child endangerment and assaults.

"This sad and horrific crime underscores how quickly domestic violence can turn into homicide," Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said. "We will pursue this case vigorously to ensure that justice is done for the victim, her family and our community."

Tennin will appear in an Illinois county court before being extradited back to Minnesota.
