Minn. minister charged with love triangle murder

WCCO

(CBS/WCCO/AP) MINNEAPOLIS - An associate minister was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a Minneapolis high school staff member he believed was dating his estranged wife, authorities say.

Derrick Trevor Griffin was detained and charged with intentional second-degree murder shortly after Kristopher Miller was found shot to death on a city street on Wednesday, May 11, reports CBS station WCCO.

According to the criminal complaint the shooting allegedly stemmed from Miller's relationship with Griffin's wife, although Griffin and his wife had been separated. Miller's cell phone reportedly had missed calls and texts from Griffin's wife.

"[Miller] was just being a good dude at the time. It was misread and misinterpreted and here we are," said Brandon Commodore, a friend of Miller, reports WCCO.

Video surveillance and a number of witness descriptions matched that of Griffin's vehicle, a white Cadillac. Officers confirmed that Griffin's cell phone was active in the area of last week's shooting.

Griffin's criminal history includes several minor offenses, including theft and disorderly conduct, reports KMSP-TV.
