Microsoft Taps Major Publishers To Help Steer PubCenter Ad Platform
This story was written by David Kaplan.
Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) has formed of a collaborative group of major advertisers to help drive the direction it plans to take on issues related to targeting, measurement and reporting for its PubCenter platform. Although it sounds a bit like Yahoo's APT display ad delivery and targeting system, the members of Microsoft's new Publisher Leadership Council are more general than the Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) Newspaper Consortium participants. The Microsoft council includes IAC (NSDQ: IACI), Dow Jones (NYSE: NWS) Online, The New York Times Co. (NYSE: NYT), Time Inc. and Viacom Inc (NYSE: VIA). This group will provide firsthand perspectives and insights to inform PubCenter features. The members will host a steering committee, focused on framing the various challenges and opportunities facing the digital media industry. Scott Howe, CVP of Microsoft's Advertiser & Publisher Solutions group, will offer more details about the group in his keynote at the IAB Annual Conference in about an hour. We'll have live coverage.
