Michelle Williams Changes Her Tune
Singer Michelle Williams, a former member of super-group Destiny's Child, is releasing her third solo album and first in four years Tuesday.
"Unexpected" departs from the gospel sound featured on her first two albums, and is a collection of contemporary pop/dance classics.
"It's just something I've always wanted to do," the multiple Grammy winner told co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez on The Early Show Tuesday. "So, I'm just happy that I'm blessed to be in a position to do the things that I want to do."
"No one has expected me to come up with these dance songs, these great pop ballads," she continued. "I just think it's so refreshing.
"I don't think there's anything out there like it right now. And I'm just happy that it's coming out with all the other great music that's coming out, I'm confident that this album stands (up) with everything else coming out."
Any chance it's Destiny's Child's destiny to get back together?
"Wow! Everyone is asking that!" Williams replied. "I'm glad to know that's what people want. We'll see. We haven't talked business in like three years.
"(We) just talk friendship. At the end of the day, if we never do get back together, we have the gift of friendship and that sisterhood."
