First Lady Michelle Obama and former First Lady Laura Bush will appear together on September 11 at the site of the Pennsylvania memorial under construction to commemorate the victims of Flight 93, the National Park Foundation announced today.

Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Bush will join other guests including Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell in Shanksville, Pa. for a ceremony on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The ceremony, as well as the memorial currently under construction, will honor the 40 passengers and crew of United Flight 93, one of the planes hijacked in 2001.

"We are deeply honored to welcome First Lady Michelle Obama, Mrs. Laura Bush and all of our guests to this important event," Neil Mulholland, president of the National Park Foundation said in a statement. "Their show of support honors the lives and memories of these 40 heroes and everyone we lost on September 11th, and serves as a valuable reminder of how important this memorial is to preserve and share their story."

The ceremony will reportedly be held at the Western Overlook, the site of a temporary memorial in place while the Flight 93 National Memorial is under construction. The site also marks the spot where families of the victims first observed the crash site.
